“Good strength goes in at the mouth.” – Grandpa’s proverb
As their grandad stated, brothers Jacob and Lucas Pearce both believe that eating food and gathering together is the part of life that enables everything else to occur.
They approached Band to create a unique brand that showcased this core value expressed throughout their work, and greatly influenced by what, when and how they eat.

The guest who wouldn’t leave.

Ever have that moment when you’re sitting in the board room, listening to a client talk about themselves, always speaking in circles, all the while you’re scratching your head thinking “this may very well be the client from hell”? You know that in the pit of your stomach, once they engage us in the project, the nickel and diming, the wannabe creative direction, the 25 hour days begin.

Do you take on the client. Any work is work to take on, as long as you keep busy. But is it really. When you spend more than what is allotted within your proposal, where now you are taking on a non-profit client, without the benefits of knowing you’ve contributed to something that you feel you’ve made a difference to the betterment of mankind? No.

With design, there’s a level of intuitive fortitude which helps guide you to get the best results. With clients, I think it’s also the same. So we followed our gut, sent our proposal in, and of course the haggling began. (this, from a client that charges $450/hr for their own clients). Usually we would work within the client’s budget, except this time.

We feel better about our decision. We actually gave a sigh of relief. No need to cheapen ourselves, just for a buck. We still believe in the integrity of excellent design, deliverable results, and especially clients that are great to work with… at least the first 2 parts.
